Vietnamese Cultural Centre in Laos honoured
(KPL) The Vietnamese Cultural Centre (VCC) in Laos was awarded Vietnam and Laos third-class Labour Orders on the 15th anniversary of its founding, on August 31. In celebrating the anniversary on August 30, the Director of VCC Pham Hong Toan said that the centre had successfully fulfilled the tasks assigned to it by the Party and the State over the past 15 years.

MTV reveals animated film Intersection to raise awareness of human trafficking
(KPL) The MTV Exit (End Exploitation and Trafficking) yesterday revealed in Vientiane its first animated film intersection. High price of rice sustains till end-rainy season
(KPL) The high price of rice is expected to sustain till the output of harvested rice in rainy season will be available for sale at the end of this year. Meanwhile the state sector concerned is actively conducting a survey on assisting capacity and ready to bring more rice for interfering rice market. Nongtha development project kicks off this month
(KPL) The Ha Do Group of Vietnam will invest US$ 250 million in development of Nongtha area, Chanthaboury district, Vientiane Capital. The project will develop the area of Nongtha into a new urban area including infrastructure development, environmental protection and residential construction.

Sikhay-Tatthong road improvement completed by 70 per cent
(KPL) The improvement of a road stretching from Sikhay intersection to Tatthong one is graining a progress and achieved by 70 per cent, according to the constructor Daoheuang Song Construction Road-Bridge Company. “The road is being improved by thickening its surface by 50 cm and having a 23-cm-concrete surface. The road is being improved to have a surface of 10-m with wide and one-m-wide sidewalks and drainage,”

Vietnam helps Laos expand radio, TV coverage

Stanley ’s LED streetlight launched in Vientiane
(KPL) Lao Stanley Company launched its LED (light-emitting diode) streetlight with friendly environment and saving energy in Vientiane Capital on Tuesday. The President of Lao Stanley Company, Mr. Virachit Philaphandeth said that the LED streetlights could reduce the global warming which is being campaigned to use worldwide.

Education Minister urges further development of education
(KPL) Minister of Education, Mr. Phankham Philavanh, has sent a letter to teachers, students and ethnic people across the country, asking them to further contribute to the development of education for this 2010-2011 academic year. Laos, Cambodia agree on border demarcation project
(KPL) Laos and Cambodia have agreed to allow technical officials from the two nations begin a border demarcation project in six locations along their common borderline in December this year. The agreement was reached at a meeting between border officials of both countries held on August 27-29 in Stung Treng province of Cambodia to discuss the demarcation project.

Lao-Viet tour caravan gives education equipment to Houaysane school
(KPL) The Lao-Viet Tour Caravan of tour operators last week gave educational equipment to the Houaysane Primary School in Sepon district, Savannakhet province to support the education of the students. 40 AusAid Scholarship awardees revealed
(KPL) The Australian Government Scholarship (AusAid) revealed here yesterday at the Vientiane Collage its 40 scholarship awardees for this 2010-2011 academic year. Half of the AusAid Awardees are government officials and the rest from the private sector. Examination to decide the awardees of the AusAid for the 2010-2011 priod was held between June and July with 1,600 candidates.

Dengue fever kills 15 people in Saravane
(KPL) As of 31 august, 15 people have been dying of dengue fever which has also infected 1,657 people in southern province Saravane. “Dengue fever outbreak is reported in 282 villages of eight districts across the province,” said on Tuesday, September 31, Head of Epidemiology Division, Health Service of Saravane province, Dr. Oudomsack Sisana.
